Getting started

Getting started with Phoenix Wallet takes three steps: obtain the desktop application, create or restore a wallet, then fund it with bitcoin.

The recommended order

1. Follow the installation guide for your version to obtain the desktop application.
2. Verify the downloaded file before installing it.
3. Install the application for your operating system.
4. Create a new wallet, or restore one from your recovery phrase.
5. Write your recovery phrase down offline and store it safely.
6. Receive a small amount of bitcoin first to confirm everything works.

Before you begin

Self-custody means there is no support team that can restore access for you. Your recovery phrase is the only backup, so plan where you will store it before you create a wallet.
