Protecting your recovery information and preparing for device loss.
The recovery phrase is what restores your wallet. Copying application files is not a substitute for it.
Backup routine
- Record the recovery phrase when you create the wallet.
- Verify you transcribed it correctly before funding the wallet.
- Store it somewhere secure, ideally in more than one location.
- Test your understanding of restoration before holding meaningful amounts.
Lightning balances depend on channel state as well as keys, so allow a restored wallet to finish syncing before assessing balances.
